First human in open space came to KFU on August 24th to participate in an international space symposium.

The event's full name is Lunar Exploration and Space Technology Heritage.

Rector Ilshat Gafurov made use of the opportunity by walking the distinguished guest through various facilities and showing him museums and research labs. They then moved to the Planetarium – one of the largest and most innovative of its kind in Russia.

Rector Gafurov said, «We now aim to make this Planetarium a federal center of space science. Here we want to build a dormitory, so that students could live and have prolonged internships and training sessions».

It was also announced that Mr. Leonov gave his blessing about naming the Planetarium after him. This will now be put in motion.
