The Union comprises 21 Chinese and 14 Russian universities.

The event took place in Beijing and was visited by associate professors Dmitry Tumanov and Roman Bakanov of KFU. The idea of the Union belongs to Moscow State University and Renmin University of China.

The guests KFU gave Guo Qingguang, Executive Director of the School of Journalism and Communication of RUC, a letter from Leonid Tolchinsky, Director of the Higher School of Journalism and Media Communications of KFU, and a number of gifts.

Dr, Tumanov talked about Kazan University's long history of cooperation with Chinese counterparts, the first of them being Hunan Normal University (since 1990). KFU currently hosts 381 Chinese students.

Dr. Bakanov presented the KFU Higher School of Journalism and the background of journalistic education. By the way, 2017 will be marked by the 55th anniversary of this particular progrram at Kazan University.

In his speech Dr. Guo emphasized that RUC is one of only two universities in China that have the honor to award MA and PhD degrees in journalism. He expressed a wish to visit Kazan as soon as possible.

The conference included 46 contributions from both countries' academics. The creation of CRJEU, of course, will make such meetings – and many other events - regular.
