Science Night – Hand-Made Dolls, Public Lectures and Mandala Drawings

Brand new public event format was presented by Kazan University on the eve of June 28th.

The night kicked off with Tatar costume showing – the square in front of the Institute of Philology turned into an improvised runway. Attending the opening ceremony were Rector Ilshat Gafurov, Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Engel Fattakhov, First Deputy Chairman of Kazan Municipal Administration Damir Fattakhov, and Baron Alexander von Graevenitz, a descendant of famous poet Alexander Pushkin and current Kazanite.

All the guests used the opportunity to visit booths, interactive master classes, quiz shows, and small exhibitions.

Thankfully, the interest to the event wasn't diminished by the unusually cold weather. The attendants could warm themselves with physical activity at an anti-stress seminar, take an imaginary trip to Ancient India, and applaud to their heart’s content to the numerous brilliant lectures.

Both experienced academics and young graduates presented their works at the Science Night.

The public was very diverse, including curious passersby, alumni, current students, and young kids with their parents. The evening wrapped up with a live concert and a light show by local talent.

The next Science Night on July 6th will be dedicated to natural sciences.
