Kazan University is one of the organizing parties.

The biennial event is held in Russia for the first time in more than 50 years since its inception. The guests were greeted by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov who then proceeded to hand over the Arbuzov Prize for 2015 to Zhao Yufen, Professor at Peking University and Xiamen University in China. The prize was first introduced in Kazan in 1997.

Among other speakers were Director of the Institute of Chemistry of KFU Vladimir Galkin and Director of the Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry of RAS Oleg Sinyashin.

Chemistry has been a very prominent part of Kazan University's glory since its earliest days in 1830s. Alexander Arbuzov and German national August Michaelis were the founders of organophosphorous research at KFU.

Dr. Galkin told the audience the importance of phosphorus and related science fields to all human activities and informed that over 50 employees, students and postgraduates of the Institute of Chemistry are the participants of the ongoing conference.

Overall there are more than 350 researchers from 32 countries, businesspersons and journalists. The conference is accompanied by the 3rd Youth Conference on Physicochemical Methods in the Chemistry of Coordination Compounds. All in all, the six-day forum includes 13 plenary sessions and more than 200 different speeches and reports.
