Rector Ilshat Gafurov Answered Questions during Live Call-In Show

Universmotri, the university TV production company, hosted the program on May 27th.

The show lasted for nearly 2 hours. Moderating the communication was Councilor to the Rector Yury Alayev. This was the first live show in this format.

Among the most popular questions were salary bumps, renovations and refurbishments, student support, and strategic development of the University.

In particular, Dr. Gafurov noted that the University still aims to achieve the previously stated goal (one from President Putin's “social policy decrees” of 2012) of paying faculty member twice the average provincial salary by 2018. It seems very likely to be attainable despite current financial woes in the country. Also, the official nationwide minimum wage will soon be bumped to 7,500 RUB per month; this is good news for a sizable number of the University's employees, especially the lower-paid individuals. Furthermore, Rector gave some technical clarifications on regular and special student fellowships and stipends.

Good news came from the construction front as well. The Institute of Physics will soon have an interior garden, so that students and employees can spend time there comfortably during any season. A trip to the building's canteen will also become quite carefree because of that. Later down the road the Institute may receive full insulation repairs – the same as recently made at the Second Building, much to the delight of everyone who felt uncomfortable during the harshest winter days.

The University Clinic, as is now planned, will soon provide high-quality medical services to the University's staff and members of their families.
