The fourth traditional Kazan University spring ball occupied the halls of Korston Hotel on April 17th.

Several dance schools, community organizations and media served as partners in this project.

The ball always strives to come as close as possible to historical formats and traditions. Participants study social etiquette, history of dancing culture and, of course, the dances themselves. The first ball was held by the Institute of Computational Mathematics and IT to celebrate the Institute’s 35th birthday and has since become one of the most colorful and eagerly anticipated social events at KFU.

Fleur de la Danse school is the main teaching ground for prospective participants. They study etiquette, basics of all dances, and relevant history. Naturally, dress code is also very strict, including hoop skirts, long gloves and appropriate hair arrangements for the ladies, and tail coats, dress coats, white gloves, bow ties and ascots for the gentlemen.

The ball program included a charity fundraiser, a concert, and theatrical performances, among other things.

The celebration attracted over 300 participants in total. Next year’s program is already in talks, with some expansion suggested for more cultural events.
