Joint Lunar Studies of Kazan and Chinese researchers

Representatives Shanghai Astronomical Observatory visited KFU. Yesterday they took part in the workshop held at the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technology.

Kazan Federal University has a cooperation agreement with Shanghai Astronomical Observatory for five years, until 2015, by which the scientists of the two countries shall conduct joint research in space programs using modern technology of radio astronomy. "This study of the moon with the use of spacecraft will enable us to study the structure of the Earth, its chemical and geological structure ", - explained Alexander Gusev.

During the visit, the parties will discuss cooperation plans for the next year - namely, joint publications and reports. Shanghai Astronomical Observatory has a powerful data center, and is interested in data promotion and its availability for Kazan scientists.

Within five reports, three were presented by the guests from China. Some topics discussed included the program of soft moon landing and taking samples of moon rocks for research. Kazan scientists proposed new data processing technology of gravitational, magnetic and electric fields. Plans of the Russian Space Agency for Lunar Research were discussed as well. KFU scientists are involved in the mentioned program as specialists to study the rotation and the internal structure of the Moon.
