Professor of South Bohemia University, Mrs. Lucy Betakova, will Give a Master-Class in the Institute of Philology and Arts

On October 28, 2012 a partner from South Bohemia University, Mrs. Lucy Betakova, will come to the Institute of Philology and Arts of KFU in the framework of Tempus IV project “Forming of Competence and Practical Skills of Assessment of Language Knowledge of Teachers of the English Language”. Our guest is also planning to give a master-class and take part in discussion of problems relating to academic mobility and European system of academic credits.

Since the last year the Faculty of Romance-Germanic Philology of the Institute of Philology and Arts of KFU has been taking part in implementation of the aforementioned Tempus IV project, funded at the expense of the European Commission grant 517114-TEMPUS-1-2011-1-UK-TEMPUS-SMHES. The project implementation period is two years. Our partners in this project are: Surgut State University of Khanty-Mansiyskiy Autonomous district – Yugra, Samara State University, Chelyabinsk State Teachers Training University; Far Eastern Federal University, and other institutions of higher education along with the National Association of Teachers of the English Language, Moscow-city representative office of the publishing house of Cambridge University and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Mordva State University is the coordinator of the Russian Consortium of partner institutes of higher education.

The Institute of Philology and Arts together with European and Russian institutions of higher education is taking part in development of academic and methodological resources for the new academic course in Language Knowledge Testing, which is aimed at forming competence and practical skills of testing and assessing knowledge of English. Experience of European institutes of higher education, as well as credit-and-modular system and its introduction into the Russian educational process are used as basis for the project implementation.

Piloting – that is, a test delivery of a new course of academic and methodological materials and the developed educational program at the Faculty of Romance-Germanic Philology has already been started and will be organized for two times within the academic year of 2012-2013. Experts from European partner institutes of higher education will monitor training quality. At the end of the second piloting stage training and methodological literature will be issued for the course along with a working program, which will be included in the education standard after the expertise of the Ministry of Education and Science of the RF. There will be the Knowledge of English Testing and Assessment Centre opened in the framework of the project on the basis of each partner institution of higher education.
