Kazan University Third Most Popular in Russia According to Wikipedia Ranking of World Universities

The ranking is based on the popularity of universities within Wikipedia. Kazan University is 244th worldwide – and 3rd in Russia.

The ranking was devised by Jose Lages (University of Franche-Comte) and Dima Shepelyansky (Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at Paul Sabater University). Among the criteria were Theta PageRank data, presence of a university’s page in 24 major language versions of Wikipedia, and date of an institution’s establishment.

1,025 universities ended up in the list, among them 28 from Russia. Kazan University is third in the country after Moscow State University and Saint-Petersburg State University.

This is yet another impressive result for our university. The most recent THE Rankings listed KFU at position 301- 350 and 18th in Russia. BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings placed us 31st, and QS EECA – 52nd.
