On October 17, 2012 a Camera Crew of Hubei Province (China) Visited the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations of KFU

The visit was organized in the framework of shooting a documentary about Volga Region Federal District. Chinese mass media representatives displayed a special interest in the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations and Confucius Institute, in which the Chinese language classes for students were shot.

The Chinese camera crew led by the Director of the Centre of the Chinese Language and Culture Study in Moscow, Mr. Sun Syaovei, met with the Vice-Rector for International Relations of KFU, the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations of KFU, Mr. L. N. Latypov.

In his interview Mr. Linar Latypov gave a review of the history of Kazan University, Kazan School of Oriental Studies and the place Sinology occupied in the integrated study of the Orient in the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations of KFU. The Chinese party inquired about the Institute development plans, particularly in the sphere of Sinology.

According to Linar Latypov, “As a result of the VIII Congress of Russian Orientalists, Kazan was nominated a centre of Oriental Studies of Russia and CIS for the next two years. Plans of future works in the new status include giving an impulse to development of Kazan School of Oriental Studies.

Furthermore, the Director of Confucius Institute, Mr. G. G. Zaynullin, provided information about the quantity of students and specialities offered for studying the Chinese language in KFU, as well as about the quantity of students taking the Chinese language courses. He also gave detailed information about a reward, which Confucius Institute of KFU received as the best Confucius Institute in 2011.
