An Officer of the Culture Department of the Embassy of Japan in Russia Gave a Lesson of Calligraphy and Japanese Culture

On October 06, 2012 a lecture was given by an officer of the Culture Department of the Embassy of Japan in Russia, Mr. Syokhei Takenouchi, in the Centre of Japanese Studies of the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations of Kazan Federal University.

During the lecture Mr. Takenouchi, a master of kendo, told audience about canons of courtesy in a samurai style and gave a lesson of calligraphy and Japanese culture fundamentals.

Mr. Takenouchi noted that he was pleased to see that Russians were showing such an interest in Japanese culture and attending his seminars and master-classes. To remember this meeting the officer of the Embassy of Japan in Russia wrote hieroglyphs “dzen”, “samurai” and “satori” (lucid moment) and presented them to the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations of KFU, Mr. Linar Latypov.

At the meeting with the exe­cutives of the Institute further contacts with the Embassy of Japan in Russia and Japanese Fund were discussed. The objectives of the discussed contacts are to invite leading professors for giving lectures in the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations of KFU and consider opportunities of co-operation in student exchange and training.
