Kazan University Professor Becomes Editor of RSC Advances Journal

Dr. Rawil Fakhrullin, Principle Investigator at the Bionanotechnology Lab, has been invited to join RSC Advances team as an Associate Editor.

RSC Advances is indexed by Scopus and Web of Science databases (the current impact factor is 3.8). This is a relatively new journal – it has been established by the Royal Society of Chemistry four years ago.

RSC Advances covers all areas of chemistry and pays special attention to interdisciplinary research, including biological chemistry.

As Rawil Fakhrullin comments, the participation of the University's staff in editorial boards of prominent journals gives a serious reputational boost to KFU. Staff at the world's leading universities are well aware of this fact.

He added, «Kazan University is proud of its chemical school, but previous achievements are not sufficient for keeping up the global renome, we have to move forward. The more our researchers join editorial boards of popular journals, the better for the University as a whole».

The scope of Dr. Fakhrullin's work in his new position will include the creation of a Russian-language presentation leaflet.

«There are research teams in Russia that conduct interesting work but do not often publish in international  journals for various reasons. It's necessary to inform them that there is a good journal that has an objective and balanced approach to evaluating published results. This may be a stimulus for their publishing activity. It's important to attract peers who are engaged in interdisciplinary research combining chemistry, biology, and material science».

Publishing Editor at RSC Kathryn Gempf commented on the appointment, “We are delighted to welcome Dr. Ravil Fakhrullin as an Associate Editor for RSC Advances. Dr. Fakhrullin is at the forefront of bionanotechnology research and has been a regular author of Royal Society of Chemistry journals (including RSC Advances) for the past several years. His expertise in this field and understanding of RSC Advances will be invaluable when processing manuscripts. We have seen substantial growth in the number of high-quality submissions from the Russian Federation and we anticipate that Dr. Fakhrullin's appointment along with others will help to attract even more high-quality submissions”.
