Objective

The goal of the information seminar is to shed light on the EU’s biggest research and innovation funding programme Horizon 2020, particularly various opportunities that exist in collaborative research in the field of information and communication technologies. The information seminar will consist of two parts:

1. A lecture elaborating on key rules of participation in Horizon 2020, thematic priorities and most effective participation strategies (40 min):
   1. What is Horizon 2020, and why to participate in it?
   2. What are the key rules and funding schemes of Horizon 2020, including those in the ICT field?
   3. What are the Russian funding schemes supporting participation in Horizon 2020?
   4. How to enter Horizon 2020 as a Russian university?
   5. How to prepare / contribute to a successful proposal?
2. An interactive Q&A session offering a possibility to drill into specific issues (20 min)

The event is relevant for researchers and teaching staff interested in expanding their participation in collaborative research projects. The language of the event is English/Russian.

Expert

Veronika Kupriyanova is a project manager and researcher at Europlan UK Ltd. Political scientist by training, she has built her expertise in R&D policy design and project management at several international and European organisations (Center for Strategic Research, International Trade Centre UNCTAD-WTO, World Bank, Science & Technology Section of the EU Delegation to Russia, European University Association, etc.). Veronika’s expertise lies with science communication and project administration. A Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, she spent a year at the Humboldt University in Berlin, where she conducted research on academic internationalisation and supported the university’s international team in management of international projects. She has gained valuable experience in communication as Editor at the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) and a communication WP leader in the EU-funded FP7 EYE project. Veronika participated in the design and implementation of EU-Russia co-funded calls for proposals in ICT, energy, space, food and nanotechnology research. She prepared more than 10 EU-funded project proposals with total funding of EUR 25 million.
