The conference opened on October 15th; the participants were addressed by Vice-Rector for Foreign Relations Linar Latypov, Dean of the Faculty of Law Liliya Bakulina, and others. Renowned politician, former Russian representative in the European Union, Deputy of the State Duma Vassily Likhachev spoke at the plenary session. The event was attended by Russian, German, and French nationals.

A trilateral seminar was jointly held by KFU, University of Potsdam and Paris West University Nanterre La Defense. Assistant Lecturer of the Department of European and International Law Iskander Asatullin explained, “This year the seminar was dedicated to the sovereignty of states and international organizations. Research of integrational organizations is one of the main directions of our activities. Scientists look for the ways to make them more efficient”.

Professor at Paris West University Jean-Marc Thouvenin said about his high hopes: “We have a longstanding cooperation with our Russian colleagues. I think that today’s discussion will be of huge importance and can influence the future of the UN”.

The seminar is not the only form of cooperation between the sides. KFU’s students also frequently attend the events organized by University of Potsdam and Paris West University.

The faculty of the partner universities are very glad to be collaborating with KFU. Professor at University of Potsdam Norman Weiss said, “It’s my third time in Kazan, and I can say that this is a thriving city. I especially like your university which so carefully keeps up its traditions”.
