New Projects Brought by Longstanding Friendship Between Kazan University and Hunan Normal University

The two parties decided to further deepen their cooperation.

Vice-Rector for Foreign Relations of KFU Linar Latypov and Vice-Rector for Finance of HNU Ouyang Yao met on October 9th.

Dr. Latypov said that 26 years of cooperation with Hunan Normal University have been a history of success. This past quarter of a century has been marked by numerous student and faculty exchanges, and the scope of cooperation has been even more impressive since the establishment of Confucius Institute of KFU in 2007.

However, the exchange between the two sides is still limited to language studies. Dr. Latypov suggested that Asian and African economies should become another area of academic cooperation; the academics of the two universities can become visiting lecturers at each other's institutions.

Dr. Ouyang was fully supportive of the idea. He added that academic exchange can then expand into student exchange and joint majors.

Another sphere of interest, according to Dr. Latypov, is ethnopsychology and intercultural contacts. He said, “A new international center called Ethnopsychology and East-West Intercultural Communications is currently being set up at KFU. The other institutions involved are Saint-Petersburg State University, Sigmund Freud University Paris, and Francoise Minkowska Center. We would like to offer our Chinese colleagues to take part as well”.

It now comes down to organizing meetings between the academics of KFU and HNU since they are the people who will be the ones who actually cooperate.
