Medical Simulation Center Opened at Juntendo University

The center was modelled after a similar one at Kazan University.

Plans were announced in July 2015 when Juntendo's delegation attended KFU. Dr. Arai Hajime from the Department of Neurosurgery said during that visit that the guests were all very impressed with the equipment manufactured by Eidos Medicine LLC with the direct involvement of KFU's alumni.

During today's opening ceremony Dr. Arai said the center already has endovascular, laparoscopy and hysteroscopy operating equipment – five units installed and seven more to come before the end of the year.

1 620 students are already signed up to train here within this academic year. Next year will see all the employees of all six Juntendo-affiliated hospitals (over 3 100 people) study here. Juntendo plans to continue its joint work on simulation software with Kazan University and RIKEN.

The experience – if considered valuable – will then be passed on to create other such centers across Japan.
