Israeli Diplomats Visit Kazan University

Employees of the Embassy of Israel in Moscow held a meeting with KFU's management on September 4th.

Counsellor on Economy and Energy Elena Margowski-Lotem and Counsellor on Press Relations Alex Kagalski arrived to KFU to find out more about research and Education at the University.

Vice-Rector for Foreign Relations Linar Latypov spoke in detail, 'We outlined some areas for cooperation in natural sciences. As for humanities, there is a possibility for Israeli specialists to work with ISLAMICA Centre. Israel is known for its interest in Islamic studies'.

Director of the Institute of International Relations, History, and Oriental Studies Ramil Khayrutdinov commented, 'We cooperate with Israeli colleagues in lectures and cultural events. Middle East is of special interest to us because of harboring both Jewish and Arabic cultures'.

Dr. Latypov said that the visitors want to assist in establishing the 'Ethnopsychology and Intercultural Communications: East – West' centre.

A preliminary agreement was made to arrange a visit of Israeli scientists to KFU this autumn.

Note. There are several spheres of current cooperation between Israeli researchers and Kazan University.

The Institute of IRHOS has research and education centres 'History and Culture of Jewish People' and 'Centre for Israel and Middle East Studies'. 2012 saw the first enrolment of master's students in 'Judaic Studies, History and Culture of Jewish People: Universal and Regional Aspects'.

There have always have been visiting professors reading courses at the University. Moreover, Nobel laureate Aaron Ciechanover, Professor of Technion, is a member of International Council of KFU, an independent consultative body overseeing KFU's research activities.
