KFU and Pfizer Developing a Joint Project in Tatarstan

A Memorandum of Understanding between Pfizer and the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology of KFU was signed on August 21. 

This combined effort will be put to develop medical sciences and public health services in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Pharmaceutical industry is quite knowledge consumptive and among the key factors impacting its development are not only modern operations support facilities, but also highly skilled specialists.  Investments in staff training and sufficient knowledge transfer are vital for this innovative field of production.

Pfizer, which is one of the world's largest biopharmaceutical companies, possesses an ability to share information on best practices of drugs production: from designing and clinical testing to production and promotion.  

Three stages of the project cover the following areas: consultative cooperation to establish the preclinical testing center, enlarging the industrial potential of Tatarstan's pharmaceutical business and training specialists in research and production of health industry. In order to transfer the expertise it is planned to attract the world's leading experts, integrate education modules on different aspects of drug production and provide internships abroad programs at Pfizer.

The first step under this enterprise will be a scientific school on innovations in treating cardiovascular diseases, which will take place at Kazan Federal University in November 25-27, 2015. Current problems of CVD treatment and common trend for research development in this area will be discussed by young scholars, students and talented youth from Tatarstan and other regions of the Russian Federation         .
