'Project 5-100' Session Started at KFU

The 10th session of the Project 5-100 started at KFU where the universities will discuss their progress.

The sessions are held in all the participating universities, now it's KFU's turn to welcome all the guests. The representatives of all the participating institutions (FEFU, ITMO, TSU, HSE, NUST MIS&S, TPU, MEPhi, NSU, UNN, SSAU, UrFU, MIPT, SPbPU, LETI) arrived to Kazan yesterday, June 17th. For three days they will take part in roundtables, brainstorms, seminars and presentations jointly held by the Global Universities Association and the Project 5-100 Office.

Some of the seminars started on Wednesday, June 17th. English language environment in Russian education was one of the points of discussion.

Needless to say, this topic is of utmost importance for the project objective – entering the top 100 of the world universities. English is indispensable for all types of international cooperation, staff recruiting, research competitiveness and global marketing. Kazan University shared its experience in establishing English language programs and popularizing language studies. All the interested parties then proceeded to discuss the details.

Another panel session was dedicated to the research promotion. Nowadays the universities face many obstacles while trying to create a comprehensive system of promotion of their research results and products. This is causes by the lack of motivation and necessary expertise among researchers as well as by the absence of unified methods and standards of promotion on local and international markets. The other problems are the absence of special purpose funding for international patent procedures, of the single platform for research promotion as well as of the competent experts in this particular field. Our colleagues from Tomsk State University shared some valuable insight in these subjects.

Some other panel sessions of note to start on Thursday are “E-education”, “Single contract system and assistance to foreign experts”, “Staff pool”, “Organizing and conducting intra-university research”. There will also be roundtables on master’s curricula, scientometrics, technological transfer and innovations.

The presentation of KFU's best practices will also be held on Friday in conclusion of this 10th session. Project offices of all the universities will share their further roadmap implementation plans.
