Yesterday, on May 28th students and staff met the participants of the 2nd  Convention of Turkic World Journalists.

The Convention has started on May 26th and is aimed at promoting Tatarstan beyond Russia as well as sharing experience between the participants of the event and the region's media. Among the guests are media reps from Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Great Britain, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Moldova, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, and guests from the other Russian regions: Crimea, Bashkortostan and Chuvashia.

Kazan University was must-to-visit place for a number of reasons: annually more and more students from Turkic countries choose it as their alma mater and also because of its world-famous School of Oriental Studies.

The highlight of the meeting was the installation of the Plaque on KFU Old Library Building in tribute to Mirza Kazim-Bek, who was an orientalist, historian and philologist of Azerbaijani and Iranian origin.
