External Relations Office Tours South Africa and Botswana

KFU's External Relations Office delegation visited South Africa and Botswana this past week.

The delegation consisted of the Head of the Admissions Department Chulpan Gazieva, Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology student Lindiwe Modise (Botswana) and Pre-University Training School student Mohamad Ibrahim (New Zealand).

Within four days the delegation visited Gaborone (Botswana), Pretoria and Johannesburg (South Africa) and presented KFU in the following schools: Legae Academy (Gaborone), Al-Nur Girls School (Gaborone), Rainbow School (Gaborone), Pretoria High School for Girls, Parktown Boys' High School. The delegation also made presentations at University of Botswana and University of the Witwatersrand.

The audience was mostly interested in such majors as medicine, geology, engineering, and IT. It must be noted that the students were pleasantly surprised by the available accommodation and education fees (universities of the RSA and Botswana are much more demanding in that regard). They also asked a lot of questions about the state of public security and living conditions in Kazan. Those questions were duly answered by our overseas students.

This visit is very important to us for a number of reasons, says External Relations Office Director Andrey Krylov. “Our university has not yet been well-known in the countries of Southern Africa. Our fees and conditions can be very attractive to the middle class families here who are willing to pay for their children's tuition. We are also interested in such students because they prove to be a bit more well prepared than those who enroll under Rossotrudnichestvo quotas.

The delegation also reached an agreement with homeroom teachers who in future will distribute KFU leaflets and info among their students on a yearly basis.
