ITIS in SIGIR 2015.

Researcher at the Department of Intelligent search systems for the Higher Institute for ITIS Nikita Zhiltsov and graduate student Fedor Nikolaev will take part in the international scientific conference SIGIR 2015

Their paper "Fielded Sequential Dependence Model for Ad-Hoc Entity Retrieval in the Web of Data" has been accepted for ACM SIGIR, the major conference in information retrieval.

The article is co-written with a colleague from the US - Professor Alexander Kotov (Wayne state University, Detroit).

The article proposes a theoretical model that improves the quality of searches in semantic graphs (Web data) based on probabilistic language models and Markov random fields. Google  uses similar technological developments in their product 'Knowledge Graph' - widget that search engine users can observe  right on the page of search results.

SIGIR – is the №1 scientific conference in the world in the field of information retrieval. It has been held for 38 years, and from August 9-13 it will be held for the first time - in Santiago, Chile.

The only organizations from Russia participated in SIGIR were Yandex,Moscow State University, Institute for system programming of RAS. This year ITIS will join this list.
