The hackathon by ITIS & Cisco in Kazan

The "Internet of Things and intelligent solutions for the industrial automation of the fuel and energy complex" – a hackathon organized by KFU, Cisco and Pulsar Venture Capital, took place in Kazan last week.

At the opening ceremony were the Rector of KFU's advisor for interaction with companies and public corporations Dmitry Shaposhnikov, Director of ITIS KFU Ayrat Khasyanov and Cisco representative, Yekatarina Klimanova.

Mr. Shaposhnikov went on to say: "This Hackathon is remarkable in that in addition to university representatives, it was also attended by industry developers like Gazprom Transgaz Kazan and Tatintek, as well as the IT-park.

Hackathon participants from all over Russia attempted to develop a prototype product or software for use in the energy sector. The hackathon was eventually won by a team from the KFU Institute of Physics, with their project "System of generation and distribution of keys in a multipath radio channel" in the subcategory of data protection within the energy industry.

Second place was taken by representatives from the company "Tatintek", who developed a system for collecting telemetry data, while third place was shared between teams from the KFU Institute of Physics and "Gazprom Transgaz Kazan."
