Haldor Topsoe and KFU to Establish Cooperation

Haldor Topsoe is one of the world leaders in catalysis and physicochemical research of surfaces. The company was established in 1940 by Dr. Haldor Topsoe and was based on his research in heterogeneous catalysis.

The guests were welcomed by Rector Ilshat Gafurov, Vice-Rector Danis Nurgaliev, Advisor to the Rector Dmitry Shaposhnikov and Deputy Director of the Institute of Chemistry Aleksandr Lamberov.

The sides discussed their cooperation prospects in education, research and commercialization.

Ilshat Gafurov proposed a trilateral cooperation between KFU, Technical University of Denmark and Haldor Topsoe. Rector mentioned that KFU's primary focus will be on joint academic programs and double diplomas.

Haldor Topsoe Regional Director in Moscow Jens Perregaard agreed that this is an attractive opportunity. Furthermore, the sides mentioned the possibility of establishing a Haldor Topsoe classroom in the University's Engineering Centre. The company is already in partnership with KAMAZ, the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in Russia. Dmitry Shaposhnikov said that the workshop will be a great training ground for those KFU graduates who plan to start their careers at KAMAZ and work with Haldor Topsoe's technology there.

Haldor Topsoe's Senior Manager Jesper Kulmsee informed the parties that the company's current focus is on dehydrogenation tech. Haldor Topsoe, however, is ready to join some of the already launched projects as well.

The meeting concluded with a suggestion to sign a memorandum of understanding as the first step in the cooperation process.
