Throughout its history Kazan Federal University has been famous for its international partners and is proud of its cooperation with them. Today the University lays an emphasis on preservation and development of friendly, trusting partnerships especially during the times of a difficult political situation in the world.
Many foreign partners were quick to respond to the invitation of Rector Ilshat Gafurov and personally took part in the official celebrations of the 210th anniversary of Kazan Federal University.
The representatives of Justus Liebig University of Giessen (Germany), a partner university for over 25 years now, were among the invited guests: a partnership agreement coordinator, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Policy and Market Research, Professor Michael Schmitz; Honorable Doctor of Kazan University Professor Gerd Hermann, who is lecturing Laser Physics course at the Institute of Physics of KFU; Palina Moleva, an assistant coordinator of the partnership agreement and the coordinator of the master’s program "Transition Management" in Giessen and double master’s program with KFU. On behalf of JLU’s President Prof. Dr. Joybrato Mukherjee Michael Schmitz extended the warmest congratulations to Rector Gafurov and presented the silver jubilee medal of University of Giessen, forged as a very limited edition for its 400th anniversary in 2007.
The representatives of Gdańsk University of Technology (Poland),Vice Rector for Education Marek Dzida and Professor Slawomir Makowski, as well as representatives of Lappeenranta University of Technology (Finland), Academic Director of master’s program of the "Global Innovation and Technology Management", Professor Juha Väätänen, and coordinator of the School of Industrial Engineering and Management, Riitta Salminen, have shared the great joy and pride for the Kazan University at the ceremony.
After a busy two-day working session members of the International Scientific Council of KFU, who are leading international scientists, Kazan University partners in various fields of science: President of the International Union of Geological Sciences, Professor of Institute of Earth and Environmental Science, University of Potsdam, Roland Oberhänsli; Head of Solid-State Physics laboratory, Paris-Sud University, Professor Henri Raphaël Alloul; Head of Laboratory of chemoinformatics, University of Strasbourg, Professor Alexandre Varnek; Head of the research laboratory „Ribosomes”, University of Strasbourg, Professor Marat Yusupov; Academic Supervisor of Institute of Education, Higher School of Economics, Professor Isak Froumin; Scientific Director of Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information, Austrian Academy Sciences and Professor of Institute for Experimental Physics, University of Innsbruck, Rudolf Grimm; Vice President of Göttingen Academy of Sciences and Humanities Professor Werner Lehfeldt took part in the celebrations. The members of the International Council of KFU intend to further promotion of the integration of the Kazan University into the world academic field.
The ceremony has been attended by a delegation of Rectors from the Republic of Cuba, headed by Deputy Minister of Higher Education Gil Gonzalez Ramon Gonzalez, who participated in the Forum of Rectors from Russian and Cuban universities, as well as invited experts of the II International Conference "Territorial Sustainable Development", which took place on December 5 on the basis of Institute of Management, Economics and Finance - Executive Secretary of European Landscape Convention, Council of Europe (France) Maguelonne Dejeant-Pons and President of Maison de l'Europe Strasbourg-Alsace (Germany) Ulrich Bohner, representatives the World organization for Economic cooperation and Development - William Thompson, Richard Wakeford (England), Nikos Vagionis (Greece) and others.
The representative of the international company PricewaterhouseCoopers, Managing Director of PwC office in Kazan, Denis Derevyankin, Director of Advisory Services, Yuri Pukha and Director of PwC General Service Center, Osip Wojcik Marek, honored the University with their presence at festive events and their congratulatory speech, offering KFU professional services in the field of consulting and audit.
The representatives of diplomatic missions in the Russia were Special guests at the event: Consul General of Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan, Rasul Bagernezhad Shayan, Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Moscow, Behrouz Abtahi, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Kazan, Dilmach Turhan, a representative of the Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazan.
The lecturers and researchers from Germany, Sweden, Czech Republic, France, Japan, China, India, the United States and other countries also visited the celebrations. This academic staff were specially invited to the Kazan University to teach and research in priority areas. They all highly appreciated the concert and thanked organizers for the opportunity to meet their colleagues in an informal setting.

Today Kazan University is confronted by the government and society with big goals and objectives, that are only reachable in cooperation with trustful partners both Russian and foreign.
