June 14 - Kazan Federal University held an official opening ceremony of "Samsung Innovation Festival» - exhibition-presentation of the latest developments of one of the world's leading companies in electronics manufacturing and development of information technology. The event was attended by Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov, rector of KFU Ilshat Gafurov, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Russia Jay Sul Yu, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan, Minister of Information and Communication of Tatarstan Roman Shaikhutdinov and Minister of Education and Science Albert Gilmutdinov. Welcoming the participants of the ceremony, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the event and emphasized the role of KFU in this process: "Kazan Federal University is a good role model for schools of Tatarstan in close partnership and collaboration with global companies and international manufacturers". After cutting the symbolic red ribbon the guests were shown the latest devices of Samsung Electronics that became available to the public only during the festival.

The key event was signing of Memorandum of Understanding (on cooperation in science and innovation activity development) between the Federal University of Kazan and Samsung Electronics. Rector noted that areas of cooperation will be diverse, and stressed again the priority of such relationships for the University at present.
