Delegation from the Republic of Cuba visited KFU

Yesterday, September 15, the delegation of the Republic of Cuba headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Emilio Lozada García, visited KFU.

The delegation included Dr. Luis Herrera Martínez, Director General of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), President of Eber Biotec S.A., and Carmen Acosta Bas, Eber Biotec S.A. Chief Manager for Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus.  

Accompanied by Linar Latypov, KFU Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Andrey Kiyasov, Director of Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology, the guests were taken for a traditional excursion around the History Museum of the university. After that they visited the OpenLabs and the engineering centre of medical simulators of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology.

During the visit, the parties discussed further deepening of cooperation between Kazan University and the University of Havana, the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Cuba.

Linar Latypov stressed that the meeting was aimed to study the existing experience Cuban experts could share and consider the prospective partnership opportunities. In particular, the attendees spoke about the participation of Cuban scientists in the researches of KFU laboratories.

Another issue focused on the foundation of a joint educational centre at the premises of the University of Havana to implement double diploma programmes.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Emilio Lozada García expressed his hope that the upcoming meeting of Russian and Cuban rectors this November would result into significant decisions for further cooperation in education and science between the countries. He believed the plans shaped that day might be formalized in late autumn.
