May 24: Research workshop “Modern means and experience of applying X-ray microtomography in Earth sciences and industry” was organized by the KFU Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technology together with partners from Germany and other Russian research centers.

In his introductory speech, Vice-Rector for Research Danis Nurgaliev noted that computer microtomography can be widely applied in geology, archeology, biology, anthropology, etc. Andre Egbert of General Electric talked about the company’s latest product line providing for industrial diagnostics manufactured by special unit GE Inspection Technologies. Peter Westenberger of VSG Dusseldorf using WebEx technologies presented his report on the latest findings in 3D simulation.
