Rustam Minnikhanov: 'Large Enterprises Need KFU Developments'

The session of the KFU Board of Trustees was held on the premises of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology on June, 16. The meeting was led by Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.

 

Before the session, Rustam Minnikhanov visited structural units of Kazan Federal University: Engineering Institute and new laboratory campus of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology.

 

Opening the session, Rustam Minnikhanov said that he was satisfied with the work done at the University. He highlighted the need of closer interaction of the University with enterprises. Concerning this cooperation Tatarstan President reminded that he had visited the KFU Engineering Center in Naberezhnye Chelny where KAMAZ top-managers and engineers delivered lectures to the students.


According to the President, the research centers of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology will change the Russian system of medical education. "I am sure that our university will take strong positions in the world educational system in the near future. We lacked such research centers. Our major enterprises need your developments”, he mentioned.

Making a report at the session Rector of the University Ilshat Gafurov thanked the Tatarstan leadership for appreciation and support of the work done. He informed the audience how KFU priority areas are being developed. In particular, the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies on Chernyshevskogo Street was rebuilt in fulfillment of the order of the Tatarstan President. The new building of Alexander Butlerov Institute of Chemistry with more than 30 laboratories is planning to be commissioned this year.


The Rector gave the members of the Board of Trustees line on state accreditation of newly introduced medical majors in KFU and asked them to provide two groups of students. He addressed the President with a request to speed up the transfer of the Hospital#2 building to the KFU.

KFU Vice-Rector for Strategic Development Marat Safiullin reported on KFU 2013-2019 Development Program and its implementation.

The meeting was followed by reports of the representatives of new KFU partners-large enterprises: Rohde&Schwarz Rus, Android Technics, Kaluga Pharmaceutical Cluster.

 

Summing up, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that a large amount of work was done. "The tasks that we discussed today are ambitious and we should keep up the rate. We have excellent laboratories, scientists, now we need actual results. We should strive for the result to bring everything to its logical conclusion,” he concluded.
