KFU Students Participated in International Conference in Germany

On April 14 – 16 an International student conference organized in the framework of new theme network project by DAAD “Zones of cultural contacts and conflicts in Eastern Europe” was held in Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany.

This conference was devoted to the theme of network project – cultural and conflict regions of the Eastern Europe that are characterized either by cultural plurality and a potential contact and conflict area (Russia, CIS and Romania), or interest to previous polycultural interaction still remaining in research, political and cultural spheres (Poland, Belorussia).

Undergraduate and postgraduate students majoring in humanities from University of Lodz, University of Babes-Bolyai, University of Minsk, Kazan University and Kazakh University participated in the conference.

Kazan University decently represented Mariya Leontieva and Azaliya Galieva from the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication (research supervisor Professor K. Galiullin), as well as Dina Khairullina, Ruslan Nuriev and Elena Chesnokova  from the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies (research supervisors Professor I. Gilyazov, Professor A. Salnikova).

Participation in the conference was organized by University of Giessen with the support of DAAD, Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication, Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies and External Relations of KFU.

As shared Kazan students the conference program was very interesting and varied. Students made presentations, answered questions during discussions that were moderated by Giessen professors. Reports of Kazan students were included into the list of the best ones and would be published in the collection book of theme network.

Apart from the conference, in 2014 will be organized other interesting joint events within the project scope. The number of participants is increasing, including not only professors and researchers, but also undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The theme project appears to be one of results of successful cooperation between Kazan University and Giessen University that lasts for 25 years.
