Computer-aided speech recognition: problems and prospects

International School – Conference on Information Search “RuSSIR” is being conducted in September 16-20 on the basis of KFU Higher School of Information Technologies and Information Systems. In the framework of this project participants were granted an opportunity to attend lecture of famous scholar, Professor from the University of Dublin, Gareth Jones, devoted to computer-aided speech recognition.

Computer-aided speech recognition supposes extraction of the corresponding text content from speech archives and multimedia data. Lecture course gets listeners acquainted with problems and technologies relating to this domain, with history of speech data search and its connection to text information search as well as most important issues of system projecting.
