Academic Mobility News: Student Ruslan Mitrofanov on Training in Germany

Ruslan Mitrofanov, a 4-year student of KFU Institute of History spent a month in Germany working on the project Germans in the Volga Region: studies of perception, collective consciousness and places of memory in Germany and Russia. The training was completed within the partnership of Kazan Federal University with University of Giessen.

The first stage of the project took place in libraries of Giessen and Berlin. Then R. Mitrofanov interviewed more than 50 respondents aged 20-28 in order to detect specific images of Russia in Germany as well as knowledge of the life of Germans in the Volga Region.

The final project’s stage included visits to key “places of memory” (museums and architectural monuments in Wiesbaden, Hamburg, Budingen, Nidda, etc.).

The project was funded by grant of KFU Center for Cultural Studies of Post-Socialism on support of academic mobility which is realized under the program of Foundation “Open Society Institute”.
