KFU Rector Ilshat Gafurov delivered a public lecture devoted to “Competitiveness and territorial competitive strategy”.
It has become a good tradition to organize public lectures delivered by outstanding scientists and politicians in the Assembly Hall of the Academy of Sciences. President of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan, Akhmet Mazgarov, highly estimated Ilshat Gafurov. He mentioned that Mr Ghafurov was State Council Deputy of Tatarstan Republic, participated in various commissions for economic affairs and, above all, he was Mayor of Elabuga and Head of Administration of Elabuga District. Mr. Mazgarov pointed out that it is very rare that person can sum up and justify from the scientific point of view his experience for organization. Moreover, Rector has published more than 80 articles.
In his lecture Mr. Gafurov presented new paradigm of development of territory being a competitive “united corporation”. He introduced the paradigm in terms of Elabuga. Several years ago when he started to realize the project of competitive product named, just a few people believed that it would be successful. At that time administration had 6 possible schemes for development. With the support of Tatarstan Government this project was turned out to be fruitful.
Elabuga Administration paid great attention to human resources, cultural level and living standards. All mentioned elements played a significant role for attracting population. As people choose places to be provided with jobs and good living conditions.
After lecture the audience watched movie “On turn the epoch” and was presented information on Kazan Federal University. Mr. Gafurov told about receiving the license for training medical staff and about organizing Higher School for Automotive Engineering.
Executive Editor of Tatar Encyclopedia Gumar Sabirzyanov asked about destiny of the University Library and possible reduction of librarian funds and premises. Rector replied that funds would not be reduced. All catalogues including books will be digitalized.
Furthermore there was signed an Agreement for Cooperation between Academy of Sciences and Kazan Federal University. This agreement was signed by Akhmet Mazgarov and Ilshat Gafurov.
