Opening of a KFU plaque to the prominent Kazakh educator

March 12 - the grand opening of a KFU plaque to the prominent Kazakh educator of the 19th century, one of the patrons of Kazan University, Zhangir Khan. The ceremony was attended by a delegation from Kazakhstan headed by the Governor of West-Kazakhstan Nurlan Nogaev, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation Galym Orazbakov, president of KFU Myakzyum Salakhov and Vice President for External Affairs, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies and International Relations Linar Latypov.

"Today we are witnessing a momentous event - said on the occasion a member of Kazakh delegation, head of History and Ethnography Museum of West Kazakhstan, Nurzhan Tulepov - a memorial plaque to Zhangir Khan is the highest act of recognition of friendship between your university, Tartar and Kazakh people in the history of Russia and Kazakhstan. Our research with the help of the National library and department of rare books and manus­cripts continues successfully, and we have rediscovered a lot of details from the life of Zhangir Khan, especially his correspondence with the greatest scientists of Russia, in particular from Kazan University".

Earlier that day, Kazakh guests had a meeting with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov to discuss issues of deepening humanitarian, economic and cultural ties.
