Professor of KFU Branch in Naberezhniye Chelny, Jamilya Mustafina, Undertook an Internship in Great Britain

Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of the KFU Branch in Naberezhniye Chelny, Ms. Jamilya Nasykhovna Mustafina, successfully undertook an internship in East Anglia University, Norwich (Great Britain).  Practicing abroad has become possible thanks to the fact that Jamilya Nasykhovna won the grant within “Algarysh” program of the government of the Republic of Tatarstan for a period of 1 month in the category “Young specialists and young scientists”.

During the period of her internship Jamilya Mystafina studied the experience of regional language application in the higher education system of Great Britain. Furthermore, the purpose of her trip was to analyse influence exerted on this sphere by the Regional Language or Minority Language Charter ratification by Europe with a view to assess prospects of the Charter ratification for the Tatar language. And of course, a close attention was devoted by the Professor to comparison of language environment indices in the sphere of higher education in Great Britain and the Republic of Tatarstan in order to elaborate proposals on optimization of the Tatar language usage in the sphere of higher education and other educational chain links.

Jamilya Nasykhovna is a member of the Commission for scientific and legal bases of language development under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan. A scientific-and-analytical material on the research issue (functioning of regional languages in the system of higher education), accumulated and prepared in the framework of internship, is of great value for development of the language policy strategy in the Republic of Tatarstan.
