The Ambassador visited the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology on August 9th.

Vice-Rector Linar Latypov and Deputy Director of the Institute Marat Mrasov met the guest. Representing the Government of Tatarstan was Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Valeev.

Dr. Latypov gave a brief overview of the University. Although there are almost 45 thousand students here, only one is a Swedish national. The Vice-Rector invited Swedish colleagues to cooperate.

The guests toured the Medical Simulation Center, a learning and training facility for students and seasoned medical professionals.

Ambassador Ericson said that he planned to visit the city for quite some time, «I have heard much about your region and your city, and I wanted to come to Kazan for a long time. Today I have already familiarized myself with investment opportunities here, visited the IT Park. I have been met warmly everywhere, including Kazan University. It shows a high level of education and works on interesting projects. Everything is arranged nicely here, and I am glad to have come. Everything is just splendid in Kazan».

The Ambassador is known as a fan of running and participated in the Europe Asia Marathon in Yekaterinburg this past weekend. He didn’t exclude the possibility of joining the Kazan Marathon next year.

A meeting between Mr. Ericson and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov is planned for today, August 10th.
