Kazan University Hosts Second International Forum on Teacher Education

The conference takes up May 19th – 21st.

The opening session took place on Thursday at UNICS Cultural and Sports Center. About 800 researchers from all over the world arrived in Kazan to join the event and discuss contemporary issues of pedagogy and educational technologies.

The opening session included a pleasant moment – Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Education Vladimir Laptev handed the official credentials of the newly formed Regional Center of RAE over to Rector Ilshat Gafurov. KFU is one of the eight institutions in Russia upon which such an honor has been bestowed. The Center will concentrate on advanced training and cutting edge educational research.

Vladimir Laptev then addressed the audience, as did Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Engel Fattakhov. He talked about the state of affairs in the republican secondary and higher education.

Dr. Gafurov presented a report on the current advancements in teacher education at Kazan University. He touched upon recent organizational reforms and mentioned some of the plans for future research in this field.

Academic Supervisor of the Higher School of Economics Isak Froumin familiarized the audience with the work of the Coordinating Council on Pedagogical Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.
