Japanese Tech in Action at Kazan University

Rector Ilshat Gafurov met with the representatives of Toshiba Medical Systems on October 27th.

The cooperation with two sides was established relatively recently. KFU has a longstanding friendship with RIKEN and Juntendo University. The latter used KFU's experience to build its Medical Simulation Center. Rector Ilshat Gafurov was present at the celebratory unveiling of the center in Japan. During that visit he also met with Toshiba and achieved some preliminary agreements on equipment deliveries.

The equipment in question are ultrasound machines. Third year students of General Medicine have radiology (X-ray and ultrasound) in their curriculum. Currently a Toshiba Aplio 500 scanner is in use at the University's Medical Simulation Center.

The meeting on October 27th in further advancement of collaboration. The first decision is to create Russian-Japanese joint medical training center. The second – to deepen research cooperation between KFU's medical professionals and their Japanese peers from a number of distinguished universities. Toshiba Medical Systems is to provide equipment for the activities.
