A delegation of KFU headed by Rector Ilshat Gafurov is currently holding negotiations in Egypt.

This is a response to the visit by the Egyptian side that took place on September 10th. President of the National Research Center of Egypt Ashraf Hamad Shaalan invited KFU's executives to arrive to Cairo at their convenience.

The visit started with cultural leisure activities on Friday (which is a day off in Egypt). Saturday was filled with four parallel panels corresponding to the most important areas of research and development. Many employees of the NRC participated in the events. The central discussion was about medicine and biology attended by Dr. Gafurov, Director of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology Andrey Kiyasov and Professor of the Department of Genetics Albert Rizvanov.

NRC's most prolific department is that of chemistry (over 60 percent of employees are attached to chemical research). The sides talked about their potential cooperation and exchanged experience in this sphere.

After all was said and done, the sides signed an addendum to the existing memorandum of understanding. Dr. Shaalan and Dr. Gafurov both vowed to start actively promoting the provisions of the memorandum at their institutions.
