Kazan University and Haldor Topsoe to Jointly Work on New Catalysts

A meeting between representatives of Haldor Topsoe and Kazan University took place on August 31st.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by the parties a day earlier.

In particular, the cooperation aims to make pilot tests of a dehydrogenation catalyst. Lab research and on-site tests will be made. The work from KFU’s side will be conducted by a group headed by Prof. Alexander Lamberov; this team has worked on heterogeneous catalysis for several decades with many successful outcomes along the way.

During yesterday's meeting at the Instiute of Chemistry Rector Ilshat Gafurov said that KFU wants to fill the agreements with some real content as soon as possible. He added that catalysts are essential for all stages of petrochemical production process, so joint research will undoubtedly be in high demand.

Dr. Gafurov also mentioned that Kazan University has all the necessary facilities for research and pilot production. In October 2014 a catalysis plant was established. It is jointly owned by TAIF and the University.

Guests from Haldor Topsoe visited the premises of the Institute of Chemistry including a new lab building due to be opened on September 4th.
