Department of Defectology and Clinical Psychology

The department was formed on the basis of the department of speech therapy of Tatar state university of education and humanities, and was included in the structure of Kazan federal university in 2011. The mission of the department is to train highly qualified specialists in the field of special (defectological) education.
The scientific potential of the department: full-time staff of 11 people, the proportion of lecturers providing educational process with a degree and (or) the academic title is 72%.

44.03.03 - Special (defectological) education, branch of study "Speech therapy" – 4 years of study;
44.03.03 – Special (defectological) education, branches of study: «Speech therapy»,«Special psychology», «Preschool defectology» – 5 years of study;
44.03.03 – Special (defectological) education, branch of study «Speech therapy (second university degree)» – 3 years of study;
44.04.03 – Special (defectological) education, Master's program "Psychology of deviant behavior», «Technologies of prevention and correction of deviations of people with disabilities" – 2 years of study.
The total number of department students receiving higher and second degree (full-time and correspondence forms of training) is 250 people.
The position of the department in rating of «Higher education institutions of Russian Federation reception quality» conducted by the National Research University "Higher School of Economics" and the RIA Novosti news agency among Russian universities without taking into account the profile of the preparation and the region, in areas of the enlarged group "Psycho-pedagogical and special (defectological) education":
2013 – 4th place;
2014 – 2nd place;
2015 – 3rd place.
Priority areas of research and development of the department:
Results of scientific research were reflected in 3 monographs, over 170 scientific publications, including publications in the list of HAC, Scopus international database, Web of Science, and others.
The department annually holds international scientific and educational forums, conferences, workshops, competitions that involve scientists and leading specialists from Russia, Europe and Asia. Major Russian and foreign scientists and experts perform for students with lectures and master classes.

Educational project «Program of additional training «Inclusive education (520 hours)», included to the republican registry of additional professional programs of advanced training for education workers of Tatarstan for 2016 (order № 9645/15 от 30.11.15 ).
National and foreign research and educational centers, developing advanced methods of education and psychological support for children and young people with disabilities, that are partners of the department:

Graduates' employment. Ongoing activities of the Department (career days, job fairs, workshops) allow bachelors of senior courses to get acquainted with offerings of employers, and also to learn about the needs of specialists in the labor market of Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan and the Volga Federal District. Great interest of employers to the graduates of the department of special psychology and correctional pedagogy of KFU is primarily due to the fundamental and practical orientation of education. It is worth noting the existence of partnerships with educational institutions of the republic, the centers of psychological and educational rehabilitation and correction.
