Dean of the law faculty, Dr.juris, Prof., Honored lawyer of Republic Tatarstan and Russian Federation, a Member of the Highest qualified Board of judges of Russian Federation , the Chairman of the “Remitting State Commission” in Republic Tatarstan, an Expert of Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of RF, a member of research Council of dissertations defense for Doctoral degree in law.

The main research interests are: differentiation and individualization of criminal liability nd penalty, theoretical basis of crimes qualification. I.A.Tarkhanov is also the author of the monograph “ Replacement of punishment according to Soviet criminal law”(1982), “ Encouraging of positive behavior in criminal law”(2001), being the author of “ Criminal law” course books, of scientific articles  on questions concerning crimes qualification theory, dealing also with challenges in criminal law, types of criminal provisions and norms. I.A.Tarkhanov also delivers lectures of “ Criminal law: Introductory course”, special course “ Theoretical basis of crimes qualification”.
