The Department of Russian language and its teaching methods was organized on April 1, 2019. The Department is the successor of the language departments, state University and the Kazan state pedagogical University, who in different years worked  scientists: Andramonova N. A., Balalykina E. A, Shakirova L. Z., M. K. Bakeeva, Akhmadullina Yu., F., Khamzina G. K. etc.

Teachers of the Department develop and conduct courses in the following disciplines: old Church Slavonic language. Russian and Russian history, modern Russian language (phonetics, morphemics and word formation, lexicology and phraseology, morphology, syntax, stylistics), Russian language and culture of speech, methods of teaching Russian at school and University

Members of the Department are members of the largest national and international scientific, academic and professional associations: the International Association of teachers of Russian language and literature, the Russian society of teachers of Russian language and literature, the Society of Russian literature, etc.

The Department of Russian language and methods of teaching prepares bachelors and masters in the following educational programs:

• Teaching Russian language and literature in secondary and higher education (master's degree)
• Pedagogical education: Russian language (bachelor's degree, correspondence))
• Pedagogical education: Russian (bachelor's degree, full-time education, starting from the 2020/2021 academic year)
• Pedagogical education: Russian language and literature (bachelor's degree, in absentia, from 2019/2020 academic year)
• Pedagogical education: Russian and English (bachelor's degree)
