Like the International Coordination Center "Islamica", the Center for the Study of Islamic Civilization builds its activities in coordination of actions, primarily with the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Scientific tasks of the Center:
The study of the history of Islamic civilization and the peculiarities of its development, especially in the Volga-Ural region.
Interdisciplinary analysis of Islamic civilization through aspects of theology, law, history, economics, literature and art.
The study of current trends in the development of Islamic civilization.
Since 2011, the main forum for presenting the results of the REC activities is the annual forum “Islam in the multicultural world”, where the analysis of the above issues is given. The results of the forums are published in a special collection. The study of Islamic civilization in Russia has been the subject of a multivolume edition of encyclopedic dictionaries “Islam in the Russian Federation” (A.Yu. Khabutdinov has been the editor-in-chief of the series since 2007). In 2017, the Islam in Tatarstan dictionary was published. SEC participates in educational and educational projects of the Resource Center for the Development of Islamic and Islamic Studies.
