Lecture course on Bose-Einstein condensation and superfluidity in ultracold quantum gases. Ultracold gases due to their specific properties are unique model systems for investigations of various macroscopic quantum phenomena. Bose-Einstein condensation and superfluidity in such systems will be discussed. Special attention will be paid to experimental manifestations of these phenomena and to the analysis of interrelations between them.

Dr. Mikhail Baranov (Innsbruck, Austria)

Mikhail Baranov is a Senior Scientist in the group of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information lead by Prof. Dr. Peter Zoller at the Institute of Quantum Optics and Quantum Information in Innsbruck. During his scientific carrier Dr. M.Baranov worked in several fields of physics including high energy physics, superfluidity and superconductivity in condensed matter systems, quantum Hall effect, both integer and fractional. Since 1998 Mikhail Baranov is actively working in the field of ultracold atomic and molecular gases, with the focus on many-body quantum phenomena including topological states with Majorana fermions and their applications.
