Director of UK Business Centre intending to teach in KFU

Yesterday, on July 24, Stuart Lawson, Executive Director Head of the UK Business Centre, visited Kazan University.

Linar Latypov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Marat Safiullin, Vice-Rector for Economic and Strategic Development, and Alsou Akhmetshina, Director of MBA Higher School, welcomed the honoured guest and took him for an excursion to the Kazan University Museum. After that KFU officials and Stuart Lawson discussed possible cooperation at conversation café.

Mr. Lawson, an experienced banking specialist who in different periods of his life occupied key positions in 11 countries including the head of corporate business in Kenya, Egypt, Norway, Italy, is thinking about  new pastures.  Stuart Lawson believes that at his age and with his 40 year banking experience, he can do more good by consulting and teaching. He has recently been teaching in Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow State University of Foreign Affairs, Higher School of Economics and some other Russian universities. Now his attention is drawn by KFU MBA programme.

It's worth mentioning that Mr. Lawson knows well the Russian specifity in this field. Stuart Lawson has 36 years banking experience, including 16 years as CEO/ Chairman of banks in Russia. He has led both Citi and HSBC's Russian operations and for four years to 2009 was nominated one of Russia's leading bankers by the Central Bank, the Banks' Associations and the Ministry of Finance. Combines experiences of managing banks for growth and in crisis, for major Western banks as well as Russian owned banks.

It is planned that Stuart Lawson will start lecturing in risk management at KFU this autumn.
