A Conference on Quantum Information Opened in KFU

Today, on May 03, 2014, the International conference “2D-electrons on helium surface and quantum information” opened in the Institute of Physics of KFU.

Great authorities in this field from 9 countries of the world (Ukraine, USA, Great Britain, Austria, Germany, France, Japan, Taiwan and Russia) arrived in Kazan to participate in the conference. They will present their papers during the next five days.

The Director of the Institute of Physics of KFU, Mr. Albert Aganov, delivered a welcome address. Moving directly to the topic of the conference the Director of the Institute of Physics noted as follows: “The quantum computer is among a hundred ideas and achievements of the mankind, which everyone must know”.

Mr. Valeriy Ryazanov, the conference participant, KFU graduate, the Director of Superconductivity laboratory, Institute of Solid State Physics, Russian Academy of Science, the city of Chernogolovka, said a few words about the conference importance. He said that physics was then at a true quantum-mechanical level formerly accessible at the level of individual atoms and molecules only.

Today K. Kono (RIKEN, Japan), D. Konstantinov and W. Powell (OIST, Okinawa, Japan), D. Rees (National Chiang Tung University, Taiwan), G. Kirchmair (IQOQI, Innsbruck, Austria), D. Schuster (Michigan University, USA) presented their papers.

A joint research program will be discussed based on the results of the conference.
