Dmitry Livanov, the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation reported that a quarter of bachelors may enter postgraduate schools next year.

1135 universities claim budget-funded places for year 2015. It is planned to increase the number of places in postgraduate schools regarding engineering and technical majors at simultaneous decrease of places in some other directions (agriculture, education, social sciences and arts).

In 2013 the applications for budget-funded places were submitted by almost 600 universities.

Since last year Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation launched competition on distribution of budget-funded places irrespective of their affiliation. However, it is taken into account that the regional universities received 70% of all budget-funded places last year.  

This year the applicants will be offered 502,799 places. Besides, 18-19, 000 places will be offered for Crimea residents.
