KFU - Ilmenau: New Direction of Cooperation

Professor Klaus Augsburg, Vice-Rector for Research of Ilmenau University of Technology (Germany) visited Kazan Federal University on March, 27.

Within the framework of his visit to Tatarstan Klaus Augsburg met with KFU President Myakzyum Salakhov and discussed prospects of closer cooperation between universities.

It bears reminding that Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov paid a visit to Ilmenau University of Technology, met there with the representatives of educational and research institutions in the course of his 3-day official trip to Germany. One of the discussed projects was a world-class center of engineering “German-Russian Institute” in cooperation with Kazan National Research Technical University named after A.N. Tupolev.

Prof. Klaus Augsburg came to Tatarstan to visit KAMAZ as one of the project’s participants.

Myakzyum Salakhov offered the guest to involve KFU to this initiative in order to improve it by virtue of KFU fundamental base. Mr. Augsburg supported this idea. “A large delegation from Ilmenau University of Technology is going to visit Kazan in September. We would like to discuss this issue during the visit”, emphasized K. Augsburg. “Moreover, I see high potential in development of cooperation in nanotechnologies, energy efficiency, and renewable energy sources”.

Kazan Federal University and Ilmenau University of Technology closely cooperate in the area of physics. Prof. A.V. Aganov and Prof. U.Ritter collaborated from 2010 to 2012 within BMBF grant. The DFG grant on joint research in experimental physics and theoretical polymeric physics was awarded to Prof. N. F. Fatkullin and Prof. K. Saalwächter in 2013.  6 joint articles were published in international journals in 2012-2013.
