Today, on the 13th of March, the President of the RT, Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov, met with the head of North department of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Ms. Anette Pieper.

Deputy Prime-Minister of the RT, Minister of Education and Science of the RT, Mr. Engel Fattakhov, Rector of Kazan Federal University, Mr. Ilshat Gafurov, Rector of KNITU-KAI, Mr. Albert Gilmutdinov, as well as the Director of DAAD Information Centre, Mr. Thilo Helmut Zinecker, also took part in the meeting held in the RT Government House.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a self-regulated organisation of German higher education institutions. DAAD unites over 200 German member universities  and more than 100 student organisations; it is a mediator in forming foreign cultural policy, as well as German policy in higher education and science. DAAD has 14 foreign representative offices and 51 information centres all over the world and grants about 60 thousand scholarships each year.

In Tatarstan DAAD organizes student group familiarization trips to Germany, offers scholarship programs of study at Master courses for economists, scholarships for study and scientific research in Germany.

Greeting Ms. Anette Pieper, Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov called DAAD the main partner of our Republic in joint Tatarstan-Germany educational project implementation. Since 2008 170 citizens of our Republic have won DAAD scholarships. The President of the RT emphasized necessity to develop cooperation between DAAD and higher education institutions of Tatarstan.

During the meeting Mr. Rustam Minnikhanov and Ms. Anette Pieper discussed current problems connected with DAAD activity in Tatarstan and prospects of cooperation development between republican higher education institutions and DAAD.
